“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” is the famous novel by american writer Ken Kesey. This is the one of the few works of literature, that tell us about the strong character of the people and their struggle against the system.
Maybe you will be scare that the story unfolds on the territory of a psychiatric hospital, but in this case it is necessary to see deeply, read between the lines, and look through the actions of the characters, especially Randle Mc Murphy.
The main character, getting into a psychiatric hospital for some reason, yearns to know what these people are here and how they got here. Maybe he is strange, adventurous and mercenary, but sometimes he is driven by pure reason and desire to help others.
Of course, is not necessary to take the behavior of main character as a 100% example of “how to do”, but something from him you can take for yourself.
As a kind of credo Mc Murphy uses the following words:
“If I have not tried, no one can prove to me that I cannot do”.
Indeed, we often think and say that something we cannot do or we cannot reach our goals, but without try, we’ll not know can we do it or not. If we succeed, we will prove ourselves that we’re capable to do this and much more. Well, if not, we can say as Mc Murphy said – “at least I have tried.”
Often people that the surround us, consciously or not, by their own words or actions bring to our lives not only the good emotions but a little bit of unnecessary negativity. But no matter what life situation is it; you should try to find any positive, joyful and funny things in every moment of our lives. Therefore, it is necessary to remind one more thing – to be strong, to be optimistic, because “You can’t really be strong until you can see a funny side to things“. Again, our hero says,
“When you lose your laugh you lose your footing”.
So, friends, laugh and smile more, because laughter does not only extends our lives, but also paint it with colors.
P.S. And finally, no matter what happens in our lives – good or not, it is important to be yourself, because we are strong when we remain ourselves.
