Winter holidays, snowy weather, aromatic hot tea, and of course gingerbreads. Sweet and delicious. And they can be in various forms – cute ginger men, new year tree, hearts, stars, etc.
So, let’s do some gingerbreads. All you need:
For ginger dough
- 75 g sugar (white or brown)
- 125 g margarine or butter
- 1 egg
- 100 g honey
- 375 g flour (and for rolling out the dough)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp grind cinnamon
- 2 tsp grind ginger
- juice of half a lemon
- 100g powdered sugar
- food colors
- sugar topping
So let’s start:
In mixer bowl beat up the margarine (butter) with sugar, then add one egg. Add honey and mix to smooth texture.
Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, grind cinnamon and ginger, mix the ingredients.
Knead the dough with your hands, form into a ball, put in a bowl, cover with kitchen film and put into the fridge for 1-2 hours.
Take out our ginger dough from the refrigerator, roll out into a layer thickness of 5 mm and cut cookies with molds.
Cover deco with a parchment for baking, and put our gingerbreads on it. Bake them at 175°C (347°F) for about 10-15 minutes.
Cool down thoroughly. Meanwhile, prepare the icing: to 50 g of powdered sugar add 1 tsp of lemon juice, stir thoroughly, add a little bit of water – about 1 teaspoon. If you want to make color icing – use food coloring (in the form of powder or liquid).
Using a spoon or pastry bag with a thin nozzle, put the icing on the gingerbreads with a thin layer and sprinkle it with sugar colored granules, or draw different patterns.
Ready made gingerbread with icing or without is recommended to store in a sealed package. But you definitely won’t store them for a long time because they’re so delicious!
